先秦時期，中國思想家認(rèn)為天地有大美而不言，設(shè)計活動只是人代天而開物；文藝復(fù)興時期，西方藝術(shù)家們把設(shè)計總結(jié)為對自然界中最美之物的模仿。設(shè)計的藍本，是現(xiàn)實世界與精神空間中最具美之特征的各類實體；設(shè)計的本質(zhì)，是回應(yīng)人類生活最本真的需求，并以此創(chuàng)造洞見未來的期許。
本屆會議基于“民生智慧·設(shè)計未來”系列國際會議整體框架，以“回應(yīng)本質(zhì)”為主題，旨在匯聚全球設(shè)計領(lǐng)域的精英學(xué)者與實踐者，深入探討在全球化與復(fù)雜挑戰(zhàn)交織的當(dāng)下，設(shè)計如何回應(yīng)其本質(zhì)。會議將圍繞設(shè)計學(xué)科發(fā)展新趨勢新動態(tài)、新理念新方法、新實踐新案例探討設(shè)計如何促進新質(zhì)生產(chǎn)力和高質(zhì)量發(fā)展，如何回應(yīng)人民群眾對美好生活的向往，如何助力人類命運共同體的可持續(xù)發(fā)展。
會議期間，將同步舉辦國際藝術(shù)與設(shè)計院校聯(lián)盟Cumulus中國區(qū)會議、國際社會創(chuàng)新與可持續(xù)設(shè)計聯(lián)盟DESIS國際研討會、研究與實踐高水平人才培養(yǎng)論壇暨江蘇高校設(shè)計學(xué)學(xué)科聯(lián)盟年會、期刊與設(shè)計學(xué)交叉學(xué)科建設(shè)國際論壇等多個專題會議和平行分論壇，通過多平臺、跨學(xué)科對話，推動對學(xué)科前沿話題的深度研討，促進設(shè)計教育在中國式現(xiàn)代化新發(fā)展階段的轉(zhuǎn)型和進步。。
In the pre-Qin period, Chinese thinkers believed that the world had great beauty that are not able to be told, and that design activities were only a form of depiction created by man on behalf of heaven. During the Renaissance, Western artists summed up design as an imitation of the most beautiful things in nature. The blueprint of design is the most beautiful entity in the real world and mental space, whereas the essence of design is to react to the utmost needs of human life and the creation of future expectations.
Based on the overall framework of the series of international conferences on "Livelihood Wisdom and Design Future", the theme of the conference is "Responding to the Essence", which aims to bring together elite scholars and practitioners in the field of design from around the world to deeply discuss how design responds to its essence in the current era of globalization and complex challenges. The conference will focus on the new trends, new dynamics, new concepts, new methods, new practices and new cases in the development of design disciplines, and discuss how design can promote new quality productivity and high-quality development, how to respond to the people's yearning for a better life, and how to contribute to the sustainable development of a community with a shared future for mankind.
During the conference, a series of activities will also be held, such as Cumulus China Regional Seminar, DESIS Symposium, Research and Practice High-level Talent Training Forum and the Jiangsu Design Discipline Alliance Annual Meeting, International Forum of Academic Journals and the Construction of Designology as an Interdiscipline， so as to promote in-depth discussions on cutting-edge topics in the subject field through multi-platform and interdisciplinary dialogues, and promote the transformation and progress of design education in the new stage of development of Chinese-style modernization.

論壇介紹：在當(dāng)今快速變化的時代背景下，設(shè)計學(xué)科以其獨特的實踐屬性成為推動社會創(chuàng)新的重要力量。設(shè)計不僅關(guān)乎美學(xué)與功能，更在于解決復(fù)雜問題，促進可持續(xù)發(fā)展。面對新質(zhì)生產(chǎn)力的需求，即知識、創(chuàng)新和技術(shù)的深度融合，設(shè)計教育必須革新以培養(yǎng)適應(yīng)未來發(fā)展的高水平人才。在此背景下，論壇旨在探討設(shè)計專業(yè)學(xué)位教育如何通過跨學(xué)科合作、產(chǎn)學(xué)研融合及國際化視野，培養(yǎng)具備解決復(fù)雜設(shè)計問題、進行設(shè)計創(chuàng)新、組織設(shè)計研發(fā)工作等能力的復(fù)合型人才，推動打造能夠不斷適應(yīng)并引領(lǐng)未來變革的高層次設(shè)計人才教育生態(tài)系統(tǒng)。
The world has been constantly undergoing changes, the design discipline has become an important force to promote social innovation with its unique practical attributes. Design is not only about aesthetics and function, but also about solving complex problems and promoting sustainable development. Faced with the demand for new quality productivity, that is, the deep integration of knowledge, innovation and technology, design education must be innovated to cultivate high-level talents suitable for future development. In this context, the forum aims to explore how design degree education can cultivate interdisciplinary talents with the ability to solve complex design problems, carry out design innovation, and organize design research and development work through interdisciplinary cooperation, industry-university-research integration, and international vision, and promote the creation of a high-level design talent education ecosystem that can continuously adapt to and lead future changes.

Parallel Forum2: DESIS International Symposium: The Essence of Social Innovation and Design Response
論壇介紹：社會創(chuàng)新進入設(shè)計范疇近20年以來，國內(nèi)外各類社會創(chuàng)新設(shè)計的活動和項目大量涌現(xiàn)，新的社會語境（如地緣沖突、疫情沖突等）帶來了新的社會問題，社會創(chuàng)新設(shè)計的概念和范疇也逐漸泛化。為此，2024江南大學(xué)DESIS研討會將邀請國內(nèi)專家，圍繞社會創(chuàng)新的本質(zhì)和價值、時代挑戰(zhàn)等問題展開探討，具體問題包括但不限于：什么是社會創(chuàng)新？如何做社會創(chuàng)新設(shè)計？國內(nèi)外社會創(chuàng)新及設(shè)計有哪些顯著差異？針對當(dāng)下社會動態(tài)（政治、社會、經(jīng)濟、技術(shù)等），社會創(chuàng)新設(shè)計如何回應(yīng)？希望通過研討會厘清社會創(chuàng)新設(shè)計的認(rèn)識問題，促進社會創(chuàng)新的實踐應(yīng)用，推動社會轉(zhuǎn)型發(fā)展。
It has been nearly 20 years since social innovation became an emerging discipline of Design. After the establishment of the DESIS Network in 2009, it has been widely promoted and developed globally and become one of the popular academic directions of design. The increasingly severe social problems, such as the epidemic, the continuous recession of the global economy, the intensification of geopolitical conflicts, brings both crises and opportunities for social development and transformation. Thus, social innovation design has become particularly important. Various social innovation design projects and cases emerge. At the same time, the concept and scope of social innovation design have gradually broadened.
In this background, Jiangnan University will host the 2024 Jiangnan University DESIS Symposium, inviting experts from different countries to share their research and practical achievements, and to engage in discussions around the essence and value of social innovation, as well as how social innovation design can respond to the social challenges.
Specific issues include but are not limited to: What is the essence of social innovation? How to do social innovation design? Why is social innovation design special? What are the significant differences between social innovation design at home and abroad? How does social innovation design respond to current social challenges (political, social, economic, technological, etc.)?
We hope this symposium will help clarify the understanding of social innovation design, facilitate its practical application, and promote social transformation and development.

Parallel Forum 3: Cumulus China Regional Seminar: Design Education in the Tide of Globalization
論壇介紹：我國設(shè)計教育伴隨全球化浪潮而發(fā)展。一方面中國當(dāng)代設(shè)計教育是國際文化交流的產(chǎn)物，另一方面，經(jīng)濟全球化是設(shè)計教育蓬勃發(fā)展的時代動因。因此，設(shè)計和設(shè)計教育自帶全球化的本質(zhì)特征，全球化的潮汐必然推動設(shè)計教育的涌動。本次論壇旨在探討如何面對在新的全球化浪潮中的挑戰(zhàn)和機遇：如何有效利用國際資源與合作，如何堅守設(shè)計教育的核心價值與精神，設(shè)計教學(xué)上如何兼顧傳統(tǒng)文化底蘊與跨文化輸出能力等等問題。作為國內(nèi)首批加入Cumulus聯(lián)盟單位和現(xiàn)任Cumulus執(zhí)委單位， 威尼斯歡樂娛人城v3676希望以會議為契機，與聯(lián)盟伙伴一道，共同探討新的全球化潮汐下的設(shè)計教育。
China's design education has developed with the tide of globalization. On the one hand, contemporary design education in China is the product of international cultural exchanges, and on the other hand, economic globalization is the driving force for the vigorous development of design education. Therefore, design and design education have the essential characteristics of globalization, and the tide of globalization will inevitably promote the surge of design education. The purpose of this forum is to discuss how design education shall face the challenges and opportunities in the new wave of globalization: how to effectively use international resources and cooperation, how to adhere to the core values and spirit of design education, and how to take into account traditional cultural heritage and cross-cultural export ability in design teaching. As one of the first batch of units to join the Cumulus Alliance in China and the current Cumulus Executive Committee, the School of Design at Jiangnan University hopes to take the conference as an opportunity to discuss design education under the new tide of globalization with Cumulus members and partners across the globe.

Parallel Forum 4: International Forum of Academic Journals and the Construction of Designology as an Interdiscipline
論壇介紹：本論壇聚焦設(shè)計學(xué)學(xué)科建設(shè)與學(xué)術(shù)期刊之間的互動關(guān)系，邀請設(shè)計學(xué)領(lǐng)域內(nèi)國內(nèi)外頂級和一線學(xué)術(shù)期刊的主編、編輯部主任等重要嘉賓和專家匯聚一堂。論壇第一個板塊主題為“期刊與設(shè)計學(xué)學(xué)科建設(shè)”，發(fā)言人覆蓋國內(nèi)外設(shè)計學(xué)學(xué)科領(lǐng)域頂級期刊的領(lǐng)軍人物。第二個板塊主題為“期刊視野中的全球設(shè)計學(xué)發(fā)展”，國際設(shè)計學(xué)學(xué)科領(lǐng)域重要期刊的重要編輯和編輯委員將帶來他們的觀點。之后，還將展開題為“期刊與中國設(shè)計高質(zhì)量發(fā)展”的圓桌論壇，邀請到國內(nèi)外設(shè)計學(xué)學(xué)術(shù)期刊的一線專家學(xué)者共同交流探討。論壇將多層次、多方位地展開討論，以期成為設(shè)計學(xué)領(lǐng)域內(nèi)學(xué)術(shù)期刊相關(guān)的一次學(xué)術(shù)盛會。
This forum focuses on the interactive relationship between the construction of design discipline and academic journals, and invites important guests and experts such as editors-in-chief and editorial directors of top and first-line academic journals at home and abroad in the field of design. The theme of the first section of the forum is "Journals and Design Discipline Construction", and the speakers cover the leading figures of top journals in the field of design at home and abroad. The second session will be titled "The Development of Global Design in the Perspective of Journals", where key editors and editorial board members of important journals in the field of international design will bring their views. After that, a roundtable forum entitled "Journals and the High-quality Development of Chinese Design" will be held, and front-line experts and scholars from domestic and foreign design academic journals will be invited to exchange and discuss together. 論壇介紹：鄉(xiāng)土人居環(huán)境，不僅承載了一方土地空間與社會文化，也是一種地方基因和觀念智慧的物化表征，更是一種血脈情感與地域精神的回歸與象征。對鄉(xiāng)土人居環(huán)境遺產(chǎn)的挖掘與深耕，對鄉(xiāng)土空間的傳承、保護與更新，對鄉(xiāng)土精神的敬畏與表達，對鄉(xiāng)土意義的思考與重塑，都是值得深入思考的話題。
The rural living environment not only carries the land space and social culture, but also is a materialized representation of local genes and conceptual wisdom, and it is also a return and symbol of blood emotion and regional spirit. The excavation and deep cultivation of the heritage of the local human settlements, the inheritance, protection and renewal of the local space, the awe and expression of the local spirit, and the thinking and reshaping of the meaning of the countryside are all topics worthy of in-depth consideration.

論壇介紹：世界的語言本質(zhì)是設(shè)計的本源，也是造物過程的初心。語言以圖像和器物的外化形式，表達對生活方式的理解與追求。圖像的絢麗與造物之美，不是遮蔽語言的屏障，而是其自身散發(fā)的內(nèi)在之美。在造形的變換與傳承之中，以文化為源把感知變成一種意識，變成一種思維，變成一種邏輯，變成一種無時無刻的覺察，在造形的發(fā)展與迭代之中，語言的表達都在一以貫之地揭示前人思想的凝結(jié)。設(shè)計活動不需要從歷史中一步步地回溯，只因其理念早已匯集在器物的顯現(xiàn)里，中國文化意識不斷發(fā)問、思考、體悟、驗證，中國意識實現(xiàn)現(xiàn)代化的表達。當(dāng)代設(shè)計，不是摒棄抽象理念，而是心懷對文化的理解，對文心的關(guān)照，以真誠的語言實現(xiàn)造物設(shè)計的終極意義。
The essence of the world language is the origin of design, and it is also the original intention of the creation process. Language expresses the understanding and pursuit of a way of life in the form of externalized images and objects. The splendor of the image and the beauty of the creation are not a barrier that obscures language, but the inner beauty that it exudes. In the transformation and inheritance of forming, taking culture as the source to turn perception into a kind of consciousness, into a kind of thinking, into a kind of logic, into a kind of consciousness all the time, in the development and iteration of forming, the expression of language is consistently revealing the condensation of the ideas of predecessors. Design activities do not need to go back step by step from history, just because their ideas have long been gathered in the manifestation of utensils, Chinese cultural consciousness continues to ask, think, understand, verify, and realize the expression of Chinese consciousness to achieve modernization. Contemporary design is not to abandon abstract concepts, but to understand culture and care for the heart of culture, and realize the ultimate meaning of creation design with sincere language

Artificial intelligence is profoundly changing the way public art is created, displayed, and interacted with, unlocking an ecosystem of endless possibilities for innovation. This emerging ecosystem not only merges technology and art, but also redefines the relationship between artists, audiences, and public space. Artificial intelligence has made public art more adaptable and interactive than ever before, allowing it to respond in real-time to environmental changes and public needs. Exploring how artificial intelligence can enhance the publicity and participation of art, how to balance technological innovation and humanistic care, and how to build a more inclusive and sustainable public art ecology are all topics worthy of in-depth research.
